The food at the Chequers is regularly
acknowledged and acclaimed as some of the best pub food in
the area. It must be the fresh local ingredients, the inspired
inventive menu and the attention to detail that Helen the
head chef demands that makes The Chequers such a busy and
well established eating destination.
The kitchen produces local
classics, such as their acclaimed steak and ale pie,
lightly cooked calves liver, an amazing mixed grill and
divine fish dishes. Deserts are home made and the accompanying
vegetables reflect the seasons finest. Attention to detail
is apparent from the choice of local suppliers through to
the standards of service and the quality of meat, fish and
vegetables.
A
daily specials menu that reflects seasonal and local
produce is excellent value for money from £10.50 for two
courses.
All
through April the fantastic Thai chef Oie will be cooking
on special Thai nights. See the Events
page for details.
